The first Aveleda wine, produced at Quinta da Aveleda, in the heart of the Vinho Verde region, was born out of a family’s passion and a constant attention to detail.
Since 1870, the vineyard cycle and the release of new vintages have been repeated year after year, as will soon be the case with the 2023 vintages.
Vindima de 2023
The weather conditions during the 2022/2023 wine-growing year were characterised by abundant rainfall and low temperatures during the winter. Spring remained rainy, affecting the start of the wine-growing cycle. Hot and dry, the summer proved favourable for the ripening of the grapes. The harvest, overseen by the Viticulture team and beginning on 16 August, concluded in mid-September. Challenging yet of good quality, this harvest gave rise to aromatic, long-finishing wines with refreshing acidity.
Discover the profile of the 2023 vintage wines that will be available in the coming months:
Produced from indigenous grape varieties of the Vinhos Verdes region, including Loureiro, Arinto, Fernão Pires and Trajadura, Aveleda Fonte Branco is the most typical expression of this demarcated region. Extremely elegant, it has a fresh and delicate bouquet, marked by notes of green apple and lime. Crisp and with a penetrating minerality, this wine stands out for its freshness and citrus notes. It pairs well with appetisers such as codfish cakes and pasties, or dishes such as chicken curry, white fish or grilled vegetables. Discover our suggestion here.
Aveleda Fonte Rosé is a Vinho Verde rosé that embodies the characteristic style of the Vinho Verde region, made from the Touriga Nacional, Espadeiro and Azal Tinto grape varieties. Pale pink in colour, in the Provençal style, this wine is light and fruity with a delicate aroma of red berries and flowers. With a velvety texture and penetrating minerality, it is an extremely food-friendly wine, perfect for pairing with Asian dishes, mushroom risotto or strawberry cheesecake.
An unrivalled single-varietal wine made from Alvarinho grapes, sourced from the Vinhos Verdes region, lending a unique character to the flagship variety of Portuguese white wines. With a clear appearance and a pale lemon-yellow colour, Aveleda Alvarinho offers delicate aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit and orange blossom. It is a very well-balanced white wine, surprisingly structured and velvety, with delicious notes of orange peel, pineapple and lime blossom. This wine has good acidity and depth on the palate. It pairs well with more substantial poultry dishes or those with thicker sauces, and oily fish such as salmon or tuna.
Aveleda Loureiro & Alvarinho 2023
This wine, Quinta da Aveleda’s most iconic blend, was born out of the Guedes family’s passion. Produced using the Vinho Verde region’s flagship grape varieties, Loureiro and Alvarinho, it boasts a lemon-yellow colour with greenish hues and an intense aroma in which the citrus and mineral notes of the Alvarinho blend perfectly with the floral nuances of the Loureiro. On the palate, it is a fresh, velvety wine that captivates with its elegance and character. It pairs beautifully with oily fish such as tuna and salmon, sushi and Italian cuisine.
Produced from the Loureiro grape variety, the most distinctive in the Vinho Verde region, this wine is the result of a unique viticultural approach that allows for a greater concentration of aromas and sugars in the grapes. With a lime-green colour, Aveleda Loureiro reveals its full aromatic splendour through floral and citrus notes. On the palate, it is an elegant and harmonious wine, revealing extraordinary freshness and flavour with notes of lemon, peach and linden blossom, typical of this grape variety, which blend into a crisp and distinctive finish. It pairs well with spicy dishes, seafood, or salads and fresh vegetables.
